Lylia Maria Barrera, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on 7/18/26. Born on November 1, 1939, Lylia lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to her family.
Lylia was a cherished mother to her daughter, Lillian Collier, mother in law to James L. Collier and a grandmother to Amanda M. Collier.
Her family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
She is also survived by her dear siblings, Cecilia Rubiano Sarmiento, Gladys Rubiano Sarmiento, Efren Rubiano Sarmiento, who will miss her deeply.
Lylia was predeceased by her loving parents, Vicente Rubiano and Emma Sarmiento, her devoted spouse, Guido Barrera, her son, Bruno Barrera, and her brother, Patricio Rubiano Sarmiento.
The memories of their time together were always close to Lylia’s heart. A woman of many passions, Lylia found great joy in taking vacations, taking walks and gardening, Cooking was another of her great loves, and she delighted in hosting parties that brought together family, friends, and neighbors.
Her warm and generous spirit was evident in everything she did.
In honoring Lylia’s memory, let us remember her kindness, her love for life, and the joy she brought into the lives of those she touched. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten
