Lucille Merlihan

February 12, 1940 — March 19, 2020

Lucille (“Lou”) Marie Merlihan nee Burns passed away peacefully on March 19, 2020, with her son Terry by her side.
Lou is the beloved wife of the late Timothy; loving mother of Terry (Kim) Merlihan and Colleen (Tom) Cannon; cherished grandmother of Patrick, Michaela and Meghan; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Lou was 80 years old. She and Tim were married for 53 years and lived together in Buffalo NY, Toronto, Ont. Canada; Palatine IL, and Bartlett IL. She was an elementary school teacher, a devoted mother, a Director of Religious Education at St. Theresa’s Parish in Palatine, and culminated her career at the Archdiocese of Chicago, where she did groundbreaking work to create an office for pastoral associates and lay ministry. She was a graduate of Nardin Academy and D’Youville College in Buffalo; and Loyola University Chicago (Master, Religious Studies, ‘85).
She enjoyed camping, sailing, music, and family gatherings.
