Louis E. Clauss of Elk Grove Village for 45 years
  
  Born May 7, 1918 in Dayton Ohio, Louis died November 1, 2009 at Sherman West Court in Elgin.
  
  Lou was raised in the Pythian Home, from the age of 5, in Springfield, Ohio due to the early death of his father. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Emma (Sauer) Clauss, his wife Dorothy (Melcher) and 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
  
  Lou is survived by his daughters Barbara (Ronald) Skonning, Janet (Brad) Lutz and Teresa (Ken) Boi; grandchildren Stephen (Heather) Skonning, Michael (Donna) Skonning, Diane (Eric) Zimmerman, Wendy (Dan) Stribe, Jackie (Andy) Rodriguez and Dan Kocolowski; great grandchildren Kylen, Ava, Elizabeth, Jessica, Kevin, Luke Skonning, Samantha, Sara Zimmerman, Julianna, Adalyn and Merrick Stribe.
  
  Louis was a member of the 6rh Armored Division, assigned to the 76th Medical Battalion in World War II as a radio communications operator and repairman. He fought from the Normandy invasion through the Battle of the Bulge. As a member of Local 458M of the Chicago Graphic Arts, Louis spent over thirty years as a photo engraver. He resided in Elk Grove Village for 45 years and at Friendship Village in Schaumburg for over 5 years. He will be remembered for his unselfish, positive attitude throughout life’s trials, and his good sense of humor.
  
  Memorial Visitation Saturday 10:00 a.m. until the time of Memorial Service 12:00 p.m. at the Countryside Funeral Home & Crematory, 950 South Bartlett Rd., (at Stearns Rd.) Bartlett. Cremation was private at the Countryside Crematory. In lieu of flowers contributions to your favorite veteran’s organization would be appreciated.
