Lorraine Ann Murray

March 28, 1934 – September 14, 2025

Lorraine Ann Murray, age 91, of Schaumburg, Illinois, was called home to be with the Lord on September 14, 2025.

Born on March 28, 1934, in Elmwood Park, Illinois, Lorraine was the beloved daughter of Joseph and Theresa Romito. She spent much of her life in the Chicagoland area and built a legacy grounded in love, faith, and family.

After the passing of her husband, DeLois Murray, Lorraine faced the immense challenge of raising their four children on her own. Through her strength, resilience, and deep faith, she provided a loving, stable home, instilling in her children the values of hard work and perseverance. Her unwavering dedication to her family remains one of the most powerful reflections of her character.

Lorraine was a true friend to many, known for her warm spirit and social nature. She treasured her friendships and enjoyed being part of her community, often participating in gatherings at the local Italian Club and singles group.  Once a friend, always a friend when it came to Lorraine.

Lorraine dedicated over 30 years of her professional life to Xerox, from which she retired with pride. Beyond her career, she lived a life of service, rooted in her strong Catholic faith. She was a devoted member of St. John's Catholic Church, where she volunteered faithfully and found joy in serving others. Lorraine was also an active member of a national sorority and gave generously of her time fundraising for Leader Dogs for the Blind, a cause close to her heart.

A woman of many gifts, Lorraine was a talented seamstress who delighted in making dresses and costumes for her family and friends. Proud of her Italian heritage, one of her most treasured family traditions was gathering the women of the family each Christmas to make homemade ravioli—a joyful celebration of food, and togetherness.  On Sundays, she could be found cheering on her Chicago Bears or enjoying a game of pool.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, DeLois Murray; her parents, Joseph and Theresa Romito; her son, Ronald Murray; and her siblings Michael Romito, Edward Romito, and Ann (Primo) Rizzolo.

She is lovingly remembered by her children: Patrick (JoAnn) Murray, Lee Swanson, and Dawn (David) Naples; her cherished grandchildren: Lauren Swanson, Steven Swanson, Nicholas (Kelcey) Murray, Brianna Murray, Matthew (Calissa) Naples, Samantha Naples, and Andrew Naples; and her adored great-grandchildren: Madison Murray and Elias Naples.

Lorraine lived her life with grace, strength, and a heart full of faith. She touched countless lives with her kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit. Her legacy will continue to live on through her family and all who had the blessing of knowing her.
