Lorraine Howe (nee D’Onofrio), 87, Formerly of Hoffman Estates, IL and Naples, FL, peacefully left us on September 1, 2012 to enter eternity where she will be reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her. Lorraine was born in Chicago August 21, 1925 to Fred and Mary D’Onofrio. She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn, brothers Robert and Jerry D’Onofrio, her grandson, Quentin Howe. She is survived by her sons, Terry (Christine), Glenn (Vicki), Michael, Marty (Janet) and Tony. She was a loving grandmother to Shirlee (Michael) Huff, Shannon (Tracy ) Fourtner, Jessica, Kristin, Jill, Ian (Sarah), Morgan, Tia and Nicholas Howe and a great-grandmother of six. Lorraine had the misfortune of learning many years ago that she suffered from Alzheimer’s. She and her family then began a journey with her that over the years became more and more difficult. Through it all, our mother never lost her wonderful, sweet personality. We are thankful for that and for the many years we had with her before the onset of the disease. We loved her smile, her perseverance, and mostly we loved her. As Lorraine requested, the family will celebrate her life privately. Arrangements were handled by Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, Bartlett.
“Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow. I am a diamond glint of snow.
I am the sunlite on harvest grain. I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you wake in the morning, hush…I am the swift uplifting rush,
Of quiet birds in circling flight. I am the soft startlite at night…”
