Loretta A. Platter, a beloved resident of Hanover Park, Illinois, peacefully passed away on Saturday, July 25th, 2026, at the age of 97. Born on Wednesday, July 17th, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois, Loretta lived a long and fulfilling life centered around family, faith, and her passions.

Loretta was predeceased by her loving husband, Carl L. Platter, with whom she shared 49 and a half wonderful years of marriage, and her cherished son, Norman L. Platter. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Bessie Behlke.

She is survived by her devoted children, Barbara Platter and Kennith W. Platter; and her treasured grandchildren: Lisa (Salvatore) DiPrima, Jason (Jami) Szczepanski, Amanda (Robert) Job, Elizabeth (Adam) Hardt, Brian Szczepanski, Mickala (Andrew) Yomantas, Cassidy Platter, and Kennith C. N. Platter. Loretta's legacy continues through her 14 great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Anthony, and Taylor DiPrima; Katrina Job; Joshua Hardt, Tyler and Kylie Szczepanski; Victoria "Tori" Job; Jackson and Isabella Hardt and Audrey Szczepanski; Octavia and Tia Beanie Platter; and Baby Yomantas.

Professionally, Loretta worked as a dedicated telephone operator, a role she excelled in due to her keen communication skills and unwavering work ethic. Outside of her work, Loretta was an avid reader with a remarkable ability to immerse herself in a book and move swiftly on to the next. Her love for storytelling was matched by her talents in cross-stitching and crocheting, crafts she pursued with passion and precision.

Loretta's life will be celebrated with a visitation at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1116 E. Devon Ave., Bartlett, Illinois, on Monday, August 3rd, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will take place at the same location on Tuesday, August 4th, 2026, at 10:30 am, followed by interment at Windridge Memorial Park, Cary, IL.

Loretta will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
