Lois C. Kramer, of Schaumburg, formerly of Hoffman Estates.Lois C. Kramer (née Bicking), 85, died Friday, May 2, 2014, at Alexian Brothers Hospice Residence in Elk Grove Village, IL. Lois was born October 28, 1928, in Chicago, IL, the first of three daughters. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, James J. Kramer, her sisters Dorothy Halvorson and Joan Richards, and her great-grandson Andrew Vitner. She leaves behind her children James M. (Gail) Kramer, Keith (Bernadette) Kramer and Carolyn Kramer; dear grandchildren Brian Kramer, Stephanie (Robert) Vitner, Erin (Lucas) Kalios, Kevin Kramer and Kyle Kramer; cherished great-grandchildren Courtney, Jordan, Payton and Zach Kramer; Ben, Abby and Joey Vitner; and Alex Kalios; step-brother E. Richard (LaVergne) Stevens, Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.

Lois left school when she was 17 to work, first as an office clerk at Mars Candy Company, and then as a party line phone operator until, three years later, on Sept. 11, 1948, she began her life as wife, and then mother. After raising her children, Lois took a job at Beeline Fashions where she worked for 11 years as a payroll-accounting specialist. After retirement, she and her husband Jim enjoyed travel, local senior events and theater production outings, and sampling the many restaurants near their home. Sunday afternoons were often spent watching golf matches on TV while reading the newspaper, a word search puzzle book never far from her reach. In recent years, especially as Lois' health declined, daughter Carolyn was most often by her side as companion and trusted helper.
