Bartlett

Lois Holliday (nee Miller), 83, of Bartlett for over 50 years, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2026. Lois was INVESTED in all aspects of her life. A more devoted wife, mother, grandmother (GG), teacher, community member, we knew not. She was a “ride or die” Bartlett lady whether in her coaching, teaching, or neighboring. And, let’s not forget…a grand conversationalist. She wanted to really know everyone she cared about…or anyone she happened to sit next to! Her curiosity about those around her was genuine. As her nephew shared, “She would have made a great broadcast interviewer…and given Costas a run for his money!” Her personality beamed as bright as her flowy, colorful attire and audacious jewelry. And, we all know, she had no filter. She commented once that someone was “as welcome as a fart in church!” And, proudly shared about her “reproductive” teaching unit around our Thanksgiving dinner table. Her ways were equal parts embarrassing and wonderful, and everyone who was on the receiving end knew exactly how loved they were . Her beloved friend and teacher colleague accurately shared, “caring, empathetic, loyal, tenacious, stubborn, honest” are all of Lois’s star traits and how she loved to “collect people’s stories.” Lois Holliday leaves behind a relatively small family but one made larger by her love: 2 gracious children, 4 incredibly lucky and loved grandchildren, a very special St. Louis tribe, and a multitude of neighbors, students, and friends all made warmer by her presence. She will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to all whom she invested in…and that’s A LOT!
Beloved wife of the late Eric; loving mother of Eric (Karenne) Holliday and Alicia (John) Madsen; proud grandmother of Isabella, Frank, Ellenore, and Marissa.
