It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Lizandro (Lee) Zavala Lopez, who passed away peacefully on January 2, 2025 at the age of 82. He is preceded in death by his parents Adelina Zavala Barrios, Carlos López Sarg and his brother Fernando Sanchez Zavala. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his two daughters and son-in-laws Lizandra Alberti (nee Lopez) & Michael Alberti, Adelina Lopez-Lynn & Andrew Lynn; his stepchildren Barb (Anthony) Graham, Alina (Mark) Peifer & Paul Grzebien; his children Alex Lopez, Lee Lopez, Genie Lopez and Rocio Lopez; two sisters, Bethsabe Betsy Sánchez-Manzanilla and Orquídea Polly García Zavala; three brothers, Armando Sánchez Zavala, Alejandro Sánchez Zavala and Gabriel Sánchez Zavala; a cherished grandfather to 18 grandchildren; a wonderful uncle, cousin and friend to many.
Lizandro immigrated to the United States from Mexico in 1969 and made his career as a forklift driver at Crown Zellerbach until he retired in 2011. He also reffed soccer games in his spare time and was well respected within the soccer community. Known for his kindness, sense of humor, strong work ethic, and a heart of gold, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Lizandro (Lee) was passionate about soccer, bicycling, dancing, bird watching, taking walks, grilling up arrachera for tacos, his congregation and always found joy in spending time with his family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025 from 3:00pm - 9:00pm, with a service and eulogies at 5:00pm at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 950 South Bartlett Road (at Stearns Road) Bartlett.
