Linda Gallien

Linda Lee Gallien (nee Schimmel), 77, of Elgin, formerly Bartlett, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2025, at Halina’s Home in St. Charles after a brief battle with cancer. Born June 19, 1948, in Berwyn, IL to the late Edwin and Jayne (nee Fisher) Schimmel. On May 15, 1969, she married Dale E. Gallien at St. Marcelline Catholic Church in Schaumburg, IL. Linda worked for the Village of Bartlett for 31 years. She served as Deputy Village Clerk from December 1986 to April 1988 when she was elected Village Clerk. She served a total of 6 terms, retiring from office in 2009. During her tenure she also served on the board for the Municipal Clerks of Illinois from 1998 to 2001. Linda was also a member of multiple volunteer organizations over the years that included the Bartlett Jaycees and Jaycettes as well as the League of Women Voters. Linda is survived by her husband of 56 years Dale; children Nicole Swanson, Suzanne (Joseph) Jurs and Christopher (Karen) Gallien; grandchildren Ashleigh, Cody (Michelle), Cassidy, Katie, Kyle, Matthew (Ashley), Jeffrey (Liz) and Lauren; great grandchildren Gracelynn, Madison, Aria, Amelia, Jocelyn, Joseph, Lilith and Kyleigh and sister Roberta (Tim) Carr. Memorial visitation 10:00am until time of memorial service 12:00 (noon) on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at the Countryside Funeral Home and crematory, 950 S Bartlett Rd, Bartlett, IL. Burial and cremation are both private.
