Lily Boettger, 88, beloved wife of 64 years to the late Earl Boettger, passed away at her home at the Victory Centre of Bartlett on September 13, comforted by her daughters.
  
  Lily was born on February 5, 1927, in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England. She was the sixth child of Margaret and John Parker. Lily was preceded in death by her dearly loved siblings Jack, Ed, Tom, Bill and Iris.
  
  During WWII, Lily met an American soldier named Earl at a dance and they married at St. Margaret’s Church in Newcastle in 1945. After the war, Lily joined Earl in Chicago. Lily loved to tend to her garden and read, favoring nonfiction and historical biographies. Lily and Earl loved to travel throughout the U.S. and abroad. Lily especially loved to visit presidential libraries.
  
  Lily is survived by her loving daughters Maggie (Stewart) Spielman and Carol DeGreve (Jim Bregin), grandson Bryan (Laura) Jarosemich and granddaughter Clare Spielman (Casey Martin). Lily was blessed with two great-grandchildren, Emma and Andrew Jarosemich.
  
  Interment of ashes and a celebration of Lily’s life will be held in Newcastle-upon-Tyne at a later date.
