Lewis Kortas
July 31, 1948 — August 2, 2024
Lewis S. Kortas, 76, of Roselle, passed away suddenly on August 2, 2024. Born in Chicago on July 31, 1948, he was the loving and caring son of the late Lewis F. and the late Jean (nee:Dul) Kortas.
He leaves behind his dearly loved wife of 28 years, Kimberly (nee: Medlicott). He will be sorely missed by his deeply loved sister Carol (nee: Kortas) Bohl; his dear daughter Michelle Kortas, granddaughter Cassie (Jason) Holt-Steele, great grandson Caleb and his many loved in-laws.
He was deeply admired and cherished by his numerous nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, godchildren and cousins for whom he and Kim hosted many family gatherings and family reunions. A friend to many, especially those of the Roselle American Legion Post #1084 where he was a SAL member, serving as a loyal volunteer with Kim.
Lew attended Lane Tech High School in Chicago and did his senior year graduating from Mountain Home High School in Arkansas.
After a thirty year career with the Cook County Forest Preserve, he retired on his 50th birthday enabling him to enjoy his life to the fullest.
Visitation Thursday, August 8, 2024, 2:00pm until the time of service 6:30pm at The Countryside Funeral Homes and Crematory, 333 South Roselle Rd., Roselle. Following services, cremation will be private.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in his name would be appreciated to American Legion Auxiliary Unit #1084 at 344 East Maple Ave. Roselle, Illinois 60172
