Leo T. Smoot, Jr., 85, of Bartlett, IL passed away on June 25, 2025. Leo was born on June 30, 1939 in Centralia, MO to his parents Leo and Dorothy Smoot. He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years Anneliese Mollsen; loving father of Scott (Marjorie) Smoot, Stacy Smoot and Christina Smoot.
Cherished grandfather of Ryan Leo Smoot, Gemma Smoot, Naomi Smoot, Timothy Smoot and Suzie Smoot.
Also cherished by Greta, Allan, Adam, Erika, Andrew, Gabriela, Stella, Lorna, Sophie, Hailey, Audrey and Lily. And countless others wose lives he has directly impacted throughout his long life of giving A friend and uncle to many, a father figure to many more.
Leo was preceded in death by his parens Leo and Dorothy Smoot, his first wife Susan Smoot and his siblings Howard Smoot, Harold Smoot and Jane Smoot; also grandsons Tylor Smoot and Zachary Salamando.
A faithful servant of God and helpful Treasurer to the Methodist churches of Gary United church of Wheaton and Good Shepherd church of Bartlett (now Journey of Hope) as well as pastoral citations from his long work with the Sisters of St. Joseph-Third Order of St. Francis, Bartlett.
Leo Turner Smoot was a decorated Army soldier. Honorably serving his country proudly as a sergeant for many years within US Army assigned to the military police.
A Celebration of life will be held at Journey of Hope Methodist Church, 751 Army Trail Rd., Bartlett, IL on Saturday, July 26, 2025. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the service at 11:00 am.
