Prayers for Leo A. Barry, Sr. of Streamwood, formerly of Hanover Park since 1969 will begin Tuesday April 3, 2012 9:45a.m. at the Countryside Funeral Homes and Crematory 1640 Greenmeadows Blvd. (at Barrington Rd.) Streamwood/Schaumburg to St. Ansgar Church. Mass 10:30a.m. Interment All Saints.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home Monday April 2, 2012 3:00 - 9:00p.m.
Born March 1, 1919 in Shenandoah, IA, Leo died Monday March 26, 2012.
A WWII Naval veteran, Leo was a member of the Hanover Park zoning board for 12 years, volunteer at Spring Valley Nature Sanctuary for 15 years, "Santa's Helper" at Woodfield Mall for 17 years, neighborhood commissioner of Boy Scouts, also involved with Volkening Heritage Farm, Glenmary Home Missioners, hospital ministries at Alexian Bros., St. Alexius and Northwest Community Hospitals, member of Holy Name Men's Club member of Senior Club and served as communion minister and reader at St. Ansgar Church for many years.
He is the beloved husband of Patricia nee Manning, whom he met in the 5th grade and married Oct. 16, 1943; loving father of Leo A. Jr. (the late Nimfy), Charles L. (Pat), Kenneth H. (Janis), Janet E. (Kenneth) Johnson, Leonette A. (Thomas) Walsh, Barbara J. (Kenneth) Corrado, Patricia M. (Robert) Hasz, Geraldine C. (Kevin) White, Andrew T. (Marilyn), Stephen N. (Angel), Constance M. (the late Stephen) Camiliere and Ronald G. (Janice), our "adopted" son Tom (Judie) Wilhite; cherished grandfather of 37; proud great grandfather of 32; dear brother of the late James and Clarence and brother-in-law of Dorothy (the late Walter) Bohdan and Shirley Barry; many loving nieces and nephews.
