Lawrence E. Usdrowski was born in Chicago on August 16, 1931. He was raised on the northwest side in a Polish community. Lawrence passed away peacefully at his home in Streamwood on October 26, 2026 surrounded by his family at the age of 95. Lawrence attended the prestigious Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome and was ordained a priest in 1955 as a member of the Congregation of the Resurrection. He later returned to the United States, to his beloved Chicago, where he dedicated many years teaching mathematics, history, and religion at Gordon Tech High School where he shared his knowledge, faith and wisdom with generations of students.
Embarking on a new chapter in his life, in 1972, Lawrence married Mary C. (nee, Peters). Professionally he became an insurance agent for Prudential, and a lifelong dedication helping others.
Lawrence and Mary built a beautiful life together, raising their family and creating many cherished memories. They especially enjoyed family vacations in Wisconsin. Lawrence treasured his time spent with his grandchildren, particularly the simple pleasures of sharing chocolate ice cream and making lasting memories together. He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, and also enthusiastically cheered for the Chicago Bears and Duke University basketball. He enjoyed golfing and fishing and, above all, spending time with his beloved family.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his dear son, Brian Usdrowski. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary C. (nee, Peters); his loving children, Kate M. (Jeffrey) Whyte and Mary E. (Kenechukwu) Oneafolu; his dear daughter-in-law Marie Usdrowski. Lawrence was the proud and devoted grandfather of Maxwell, Aria, Vivienne, Ifeanyi, Ebele and Oluchi. He was the cherished brother of Marilyn (Leland) Lewis and the late Elaine (Harry) Dahl and fond brother-in-law of Michael (Jane) Peters and a thoughtful uncle and treasured friend to many.
