Lawrence Schweik

Lawrence Walter Schweik, 87, died April 12, 2022. Larry was the beloved husband of Nancy Schweik (nee Urbanski) for 59 years; loving father of Andrew (Kimberly) and Matthew (Laura); proud grandfather of Katelyn Ann, Matthew and Bradley; cherished brother of Harold and the late Marjorie; dear uncle of 13 nieces and nephews.
Larry loved to sing and when in the army toured coast to coast as a vocalist with the United States Army Field Band, the Army's traveling band out of Washington, D.C. He noted that when the band performed songs from the musical Oklahoma, his official army uniform was a loud western shirt and cowboy boots. After military service, he earned his Bachelor's and Juris Doctor degrees from DePaul University and became a member of the Illinois Bar. He is a past chairman and CEO of Tractor Supply Company, which is a national chain of farm and ranch stores primarily in the Chicago area. He also was an executive with Safety-Kleen Corp. He has served as a Trustee of the National Jewish Hospital in Denver and a Director of the Nevada Development Authority in Las Vegas. Larry was an avid golfer and at one time played to a four handicap. He is a past President of the Illinois Seniors Golf Association and has served as a Governor and Director of the Chicago District Golf Association. He was the CDGA Handicap and Course Rating Chairman for over eleven years and had the unique experience of participating in about 500 USGA course ratings, which included most of the golf courses in the Chicago area. Larry was a devout Catholic and dedicated his life to his family, his faith and then his career.
Visitation Monday April 18, 10:00am until time of Mass 11:00am at St. Peter Damian Catholic Church 131 S. Crest Avenue, Bartlett. Interment Assumption Cemetery, 1S510 Winfield Rd., Wheaton IL 60189.
