Lawrence (Larry) Edward Mulcahy, born April 18, 1941 to parents Edward and Evelyn, died peacefully in his home on May 10, 2018 surrounded by his loved ones.
Originally a draftsman, Larry traded in his pencils for a fire suit and pursued his dreams of becoming a fire fighter/paramedic. Larry was a part of the Rolling Meadows Fire Department for over twenty years. Larry was a man of many talents, and pursued his own business, The Music Machine, during his time off. This was a great side job for him because he was able to involve his two favorite things: music and the love of his life Bonnie.
Larry was a true outdoors man with the spirit of an adventurer. A man who’s favorite past times included boating, scuba diving, motorcycling, and traveling. It is easy to see Larry had an interest in the world around him experiencing new and exciting things. This alone is proof Larry’s time here was not only well spent but cherished.
Larry will be missed by many! He leaves behind his beloved wife, Bonnie, two children, Laura and Daniel, his five grandchildren, three brothers, and many cherished friends. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you please make a donation to the ALS Foundation on Larry’s behalf.
Throughout Larry’s life, Larry would often stop and recite one of his favorite quotes and ask “is this my life?” And although at times, Larry may have been uncertain with the answer in his mind, I truly believe that if he could ask himself the same question now, his answer would be “yes, and boy was it a good one!”
Services for Larry will be on Monday, May 14th from 3:00 pm-9:00 pm at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 1640 Greenmeadows Blvd., Streamwood, IL. 60107. 630-289-8054
