Lawrence M. Kessel, 72, of Streamwood for 37 years.
Born June 8, 1936 Chicago, IL and passed peacefully into God’s hands June 4, 2009. He was a graduate of Lane Technical High School in Chicago. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and he worked in the graphic arts industry as a typesetter and proofreader before retiring from ABD Group, Chicago in 2004.
His wife, Marlene nee Rydelski of 41 yrs, was his companion, best friend and caregiver in his years of illness. He thought the world of his daughters, Sue (Mario) Zangara of South Elgin and Maggie (Lance) Branca of Pingree Grove and was proud to be their dad; his relationship with his grandchildren, Dave Morris, Caroline Kessel, Abbie and Evan Branca was rewarding and he loved them dearly. He shared his interest of baseball, football and cats with them.
He is preceded in death by his mother Grace nee Domek.
Visitation Sunday 2:00 – 8:00 pm at the Countryside Funeral Home 1640 Greenmeadows Blvd (at Barrington Rd) Streamwood/Schaumburg. Funeral Monday 8:45 am to St. John the Evangelist Church. Mass 9:30 am. Interment St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials made to the American Cancer Society P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718 would be appreciated.
