Laura J. Thomas, 70 of Elgin, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025. Born March 7, 1954, in Elgin. Laura was the school lunch coordinator at Washington Elementary in the U46 school district for many years. She enjoyed cooking, painting by numbers and scratch tickets but her biggest passion was her family, especially her grandchildren. Beloved wife of 50 years to the late Jacob Jr; loving mom of Laurie (Steve) Durec, Melissa (Evan) Williams, Kari Thomas and Jacob (Amanda) Thomas III; cherished grandma of Brandon (Megann), Ryan, Joshua, Anelyse, Evan, Jacob IV and great grandma of Harper; dear daughter of the late Lawrence and Betty Kawa and kind sister of Brenda (Bruce), Larry, Peggy (Rick); caring sister-in-law of Jill (Henry), Chris (the late Christina), Rusty (the late Andy) and fond aunt to many. Cremation is private at the Countryside Crematory. Memorial service from 12:00pm to 4:00pm on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at the Catherine B. Seyller Community Room, 390 South Ave, Hampshire IL, 60140.
