Lane Alan Wiesike was born in Chicago on 4/8/1969. On 12/14/2023 Jesus wrapped his loving arms around Lane after weeks of pneumonia. Lane is home with a joyful reunion with his mother, Charlene Zmich, whom he admired and loved. His sister, Dawn Wiesike and his grandparents are with him for eternity. Lane is loved and will be missed by his family, fishing buddies, friends, neighbors, girlfriend and their pet otter.
Lane found peace at Bode Lake as often as possible. He believed fishing was the best hobby on earth. He did everything he could to attract butterflies and hummingbirds to his garden. He enjoyed a game of pool with his friends, but his true passion was cooking and gardening. He was a fabulous chef. He loved his baseball caps and sitting around his campfire with friends and family. In high school, he started a part time job at UPS and really liked the boss and the company, and stayed there. After high school Lane went to college, and was very proud to receive a degree in pyschology. After 37 dedicated years at UPS, he was looking forward to retirement and spending his life on a lake - any lake - to enjoy that peace. A home injury in March put those plans on pause. He was grateful for the excellent care from his doctors, the efficient schedulers, the occupational and physical therapists that made a difference as he recovered from the injury.
Lane was a very private, good, kind man. If he opens his heart, he is all in.
Celebrate the life of Lane; plant some milkweed and honeysuckle in your garden, hang some hummingbird feeders. Most of all, think of him when you enjoy a peaceful day on your favorite lake. Services for Lane will be private.
