Krystyna Kolasa

June 16, 1925 — April 18, 2014

Krystyna was born in Konin, Poland on June 16, 1925. She was taken from her home at the age of 16 and put in a work camp for 4 years. She was freed by the American Army in 1945. In Germany, she met Marion Kolasa and they had a daughter Halina (Chester Mikol). They arrived at Ellis Island, NY, USA in 1949 aboard the U.S.S. General W.M. Black. Krystyna settled in Chicago where she had another daughter, Angeline (Randy Harling). Later came 2 sons: Richard (Jenneen Strmic) and Robert (Michelle Tischler).
She had a total of 6 grandchildren, Kevin (Tracy Cumberland) Mikol, Eric Kudzin, Michele Glendenning, Lisa (Matt Doering) Mikol, Alexis Kolasa, Trent Kolasa and 5 Great Grandchildren, Ryan, Caroleena, Mia, Gabriella and Ethan. Family always came first. She loved to sew, crochet, knit and eat Limburger cheese. Krystyna made the best Pierogi and Red Cabbage with raisins. Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, Auntie, we miss you already!
Visitation for Krystyna Monday, April 21 3:00p.m. – 9:00p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 950 South Bartlett Road (at Stearns Road) Bartlett. Funeral Tuesday 10:15a.m. to Resurrection Church Mass 11:00a.m. Interment Assumption Cemetery.
