Kevin Minor

December 14, 1967 — May 17, 2022

Mundelein -- Kevin Eric Minor, a longtime resident of the Chicagoland area, passed away Tuesday the 17th of May at Condell Memorial Hospital.

Kevin was born December 14, 1967, in Fort Campbell, Kentucky and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. He received a Bachelor of Science in Computer and Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in 1988. While attending Purdue, he pledged Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. After graduation, he went on to work for Motorola, Inc for his entire career.

He is survived by his wife, Michelle and his three daughters, Kristina, Jasmine and Brienne. His parent-in-laws, James and Barbara Minniefield, his sisters-in-law, Daphne Johnson and Jamie Minnefield- Jenkins, his brothers-in-law, Bruce Johnson and Kirk Jenkins, three nieces, one grandniece, one nephew, one nephew-in-law, one great nephew and a host of cousins and close family friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eufemia Minor.

He was a man who empowered his children to reach for the stars and chase their dreams. Each of his children became NCAA Division I tennis players. Uplifting other young children through the sport of tennis was a dear passion of Kevin’s. He spent his free time serving on the board of the Chicago Tennis Association and opening the doors of tennis to those kids desiring to step through it, often empowering young girls of color and guiding their parents through the process of Junior tennis.

The family is developing a scholarship fund to be made in Kevin’s honor. The scholarship will be given to one Middle School girl in the sport of tennis to help her and her family fund her dream of progressing through the Junior ranks and becoming a College Tennis Player. It is the family’s dream to make this an annual fund and host a girl’s tennis tournament fundraiser every year.

We thank you for any donation given and for your support in keeping Kevin’s dream alive.

He was the ultimate Girl Dad.
