Kenneth Vojtech

November 22, 1964 — May 10, 2024

Kenneth Andrew Vojtech (Ken/Kenny) of Naperville, IL died Friday Morning, May 10 th , , 2024; born November 22, 1964. Beloved son of Karin Vojtech and Kenneth Vojtech. Dear brother to Kathie Smith, Kevin Vojtech (finace’ Jenny Dobson), Kari Vojtech Martin (husband Luke Martin), and loving Uncle and Great Uncle to Kyle Smith (wife Maggie Smith), Abby Smith (Adam Happ fiance’), Danny Smith, Maggie Vojtech, Lucy Vojtech, Joseph Martin, Andrew Martin, William Martin, Aidan Anderson, Everett Smith, Owen Smith.

Kenny grew up in Downers Grove IL. During grade school at St. Joseph’s and High School at Downers Grove North, he played football. He also played the clarinet. In his middle school years into high school Kenny became active with St. Joseph’s youth group participating in and helping with youth retreats. When he turned 16, he began work at Gee Lumber and met his best friend Keith Venard, who worked at the Jewel right next door. Kenny went on to earn college credits from the College of DuPage as well as at Western Illinois University. Kenny’s first and favorite job was with Spectrum associated with Little Friends in Naperville. He began doing warehouse work, but also liked working with and supporting the adult population. He worked at McKesson as well for many years in their warehouse.

Kenny loved Chicago Sports most especially when his teams were winning. Chicago White Sox, Bears, and the Blackhawks all had him riding the rollercoaster of love and hate. He really enjoyed texting and bantering with his cousins who were Packer Fans. Ken’s all-time favorite college team and sport was Notre Dame Football again bantering with his cousin Rick who is a staunch MI fan.

What he really enjoyed though was being able to go see his nieces and nephews participate in their activities -hockey, soccer, karate, baseball, football, basketball, dance recitals and ice- skating performances. He truly had a loving place in his heart for them and was grateful to be on the sidelines enjoying their gifts and talents.

Throughout Ken’s life works of service were very important. He always believed in giving back being a worthy endeavor. At his current church, Resurrection, Wayne, IL, Ken was a small group co-leader for the Alpha experience, participated in Bible Studies, and offered his support whenever monthly events were happening whether it was with set up or clean up nothing was too unimportant to lend a hand. Everyone has commented on always counting on Ken to give them a smile. Even after his passing, Ken gave to others in need thru his organ donation through Gift of Hope.

Ken’s greatest achievement for which we know he would be very proud is being 22 years sober and proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous. Ken had been working on becoming a peer support counselor through certification from the College of DuPage. As a counselor, he would have been helping those who were living with dual diagnosis of addiction as well as mental health issues. He looked forward to being support for those who were struggling to recover and heal.

Finally, Ken enjoyed time to write. In his writing whether by text, email or when he wanted to journal, he revealed himself to be humorous, poetic, and profound. He shared a part of himself that was never noticed in the spoken word. Ken loved relaxing in Green Lake, WI and fishing.
