October 15, 1960 — July 27, 2025
Kelly Shawnna Bielski (nee McCoy) passed away peacefully at home in Roselle, IL on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at the age of 64 after battling cancer for many years. She was surrounded by her loving husband, Brian and son, Mason. Kelly’s passing leaves a void that her family cannot fill. Kelly was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Born on October 15, 1960, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Kelly was the beloved daughter of Patrick and Marian McCoy, who along with her brother Kevin, preceded her in death.
In addition to Brian and Mason, she is survived by her sister Kandi (John) Singer of West Chester, Ohio, brother Sean (Ann) McCoy of Orlando, Florida, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will never forget the love she brought to their lives.
She was a devoted wife and mother. Kelly loved being involved in Mason’s activities. Kelly was many things, but being “Mom” to Mason was what she cherished the most. She also had a graduate degree as a “Hockey Mom”.
She had an adventurous spirit and a zest for life. Traveling the world with her family and close friends was a passion of hers. She was always up for exciting adventures such as sky diving, whitewater rafting, ziplining, scuba diving, and hiking the Na Pali trail in Hawaii. As a little girl, she dreamed of growing up to marry JFK Jr. In the early 80s, she ended up hanging out and nightclubbing with a group that included George Clooney. In fact, she danced more often with George than her own husband. A private family meeting with Mikhail Gorbachev was another highlight for this brown-eyed lass.
While Kelly valued her privacy, those that knew her saw her as a compassionate person. She cherished her family and friends and would do anything to help them without any questions. Cheerful, considerate, fun, kind-hearted, loyal, genuine and a loveable determined mindset are some of the traits that drew people to her.
A true animal lover, her beloved Chow Chow, Bear, was her faithful companion and protector for 15 years. Her dogs Quinn and Bailey were right by her side to the end.
Kelly was a passionate sports fan who counted Mason’s hockey teams as her absolute favorite just above the Bengals, Reds, Blackhawks, Buckeyes and Bearcats. Kelly loved music and going concerts with the Beatles being her favorite.
Kelly attended Ohio State University and graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a B.A. in Communications. She worked for Fidelity Investments, Hewitt, Aon/Hewitt and was lastly Senior Director of Advisory Services for Alight Solutions responsible for corporate retirement plans valued at over $300 billion. Even at work, she was well respected and had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh while getting the job done, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed her path.
