Kathryn “Kay” Joseph of Pekin, Il, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin, Il. She was 73 years old.

Kay was born on September 24, 1948 and was the only child of Frank and Coralee (nee Schuster) Ferre. She was married to Bernard “Bernie” Joseph, had a son, Greg, and had triplet granddaughters: Kiera, Elysia, and Sasha. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, Bernie, and her daughter-in-law Margaret (nee Buggiani).

Kay was a graduate of Manual High School but after that she became, among other things, a professional event organizer, a world traveler, an entrepreneur, a caretaker, a wife, a mother, and a grandmother. But none of these titles fully conveys who she was and what she meant to so many. In their married life Bernie was the outgoing one who could not go anywhere without seeing someone he knew, but Kay was always the one who made the personal connections quietly behind the scenes, who checked on people, sent cards and made phone calls, and told them individually how special they were and how proud she was of them. She was an amazing mother and a selfless grandmother who would do absolutely anything for her girls. She loved dogs, hummingbirds, and dragonflies and never got to see the Aurora Borealis.

In lieu of gifts or flowers, the family is kindly asking for donations to a college education fund for her granddaughters:
