Kathleen Marie Chambers (Macks), age 87, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2024.
Born in Detroit, Michigan on January 19th, 1937, Kathie joined the world with her twin, Jacquelyn, in style. They, along with their mother Hattie Macks, were featured on the front page of the Detroit Free Press in recognition of being the largest twins - almost nine pounds each- born at the hospital. Kathie kept this photo until her passing and it will stay in the family.
Kathie was one eight daughters born to Edmund and Hattie Macks who encouraged all of their children to be independent and explore the world. Kathie, after seeing her older sisters leave the nest for their adventures, found herself in Chicago in the early 1960s.
It was here where Kathie met the love of her life Robert (Bob) Chambers with whom she shared 40 years of happiness before his passing in 2006. They moved to their dream home in Bloomingdale, Illinois where they built a life filled with love, laughter, friends and family. Kathie enjoyed an exciting and fulfilling career as a secretary for the Crown Family businesses for more than two decades.
Kathie had an amazing, positive spirit and was always bringing friends - in Illinois and Florida - and family together in times of celebration and providing support in times of need. Her signature nickname for those she loved was “chubs” and Kathie brought laughter and happiness to everyone around her. This indomitable spirit carried Kathie through her last three years of life in which she faced and overcame many challenges.
Kathie was devoutly religious and she was a dedicated parishioner of Saint Isidore’s in Bloomingdale. She was a proud member of the God Squad - a tight knit group of friends who attended weekly Mass together and then continued their community over a meal at Panera Bread.
Kathie has joined her husband, parents and seven sisters who predeceased her. She leaves behind three step children Bruce Chambers ( Lou Ann), John Chambers, and Christopher Chambers (Carol). Kathie was a loving grandma to Samantha, Alexis, Lucas, Jack and Max and great grandchildren Grace and Otto. She also has many nieces and nephews from New York to California, Alabama, Tennessee, Virginia and Pennsylvania along with many friends who will never forget Kathie’s extraordinary light.
