Karen Pallasch

Karen A. Pallasch (nee Vollriede), 80, of Schaumburg for 51 years, passed away Friday, October 11, 2024. She was born March 20,1944 in Chicago. Beloved wife of 61 years to Leon; loved mother of Heather (Tom) Taxon; cherished grandma of Grey (Lexy) and Drake (Katy); dear daughter of the late William P. and Mildred “Mitt” Vollriede; sister of William R. Vollriede and Nadeen (the late James) Sahr; fond sister-in-law to Bobbie (the late Patrick) Pallasch and Rosemary (the late Carl) Pallasch and aunt and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Karen had creative interests and hobbies including: rosemaling, calligraphy, jewelry making, cake decorating, and baking her Grandmother’s secret recipe cookies, as well as painting ornaments, for her Church’s Holiday Craft and Cookie Bazaar. She had a soft spot for all animals especially her adopted dog, Joe. Karen was a proud and devoted Grandmother, attending her Grandsons’ sports games, concerts and performances through their youth and into college. She enjoyed drives in the country, traveling, and traditions of spending time with family throughout the year making memories at the Morton Arboretum and Edward’s Orchard.
Her family and friends will miss her wit, smile and thoughtfulness. Visitation 4:00pm to 8:00pm Wednesday, October 23, at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 333 S Roselle Rd (1/4 mile south of Irving Park Rd), Roselle. Visitation will continue Thursday 10:00am until time of service 11:00am at Our Saviour’s United Methodist Church, 701 E Schaumburg Rd, Schaumburg. Cremation will be private at the Countryside Crematory.
