It is with profound sadness that we mourn the passing of Karen S. Korn, beloved partner, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Born on Tuesday, October 18, 1949, in Chicago, Karen departed this world peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2026, at her home in Itasca, IL.
Karen pursued a career in teaching with a focus on business education. The decades she spent in a classroom began with typewriters and stenography. Through all the changes, she maintained her love of the classroom, specifically those at Schaumburg High School, for more than fifty years.
Her highest calling was her role as loving mother to Michelle (Robert) Schwantz and Ryan (Heather) Korn, devoted partner of 26 years to Jim Milek, and adoring grandmother to Brayden, Evelyn, Devyn, Leo, and Audrina. She is further survived by her devoted sister, Carol (Dave) Porter; and her cherished nieces, Kristen (Russell) Whitaker and Lindsey (Samuel) Hankes. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Leo and Helen Cregor and sister Janice Cregor. They are now reunited in eternal peace.
Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Visitation at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory of Roselle in Roselle, Illinois, on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Memorial Mass will be held the following day, Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Itasca, Illinois, to celebrate and honor Karen’s extraordinary life.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Karen Korn Memorial Scholarship benefitting Schaumburg High School students can be made with details forthcoming. The scholarship will forever memorialize her love of teaching and the Schaumburg Saxon community.
Karen's life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and faith. Her legacy lives on in those that she loved so deeply. Karen was a smiling face, a kind word, and loving hug. May her soul rest in everlasting peace with a gentle ocean breeze and the feel of sand between her toes.
