Kai Man Liu

December 13, 1963 — March 5, 2026

Bartlett

Kai Man Liu of Bartlett, IL, entered his awaited home with Jesus on Thursday, March 5th, 2026 at the age of 62. Preceded in death by his father, Leung Liu, Kai Man is survived by his wife of 32 years, Ruby Jean Liu (nee Nunez), his daughters Rebekah (Jacob Doorn) and Kyla, his mother Shuk Fun Liu, his brothers Kai Leung (Lucy), Kai Tak (Alisa), nieces Marie, Stephanie, and Kaitlin, and nephew Sean.

Kai Man was born in Hong Kong, China, on December 13th, 1963. When he was six years old, his parents moved their young family to the United States and opened a restaurant in Chicago, wanting a good life and future for their three sons. They were a tightknit family, and Kai Man prioritized his relationships with his parents and brothers into adulthood. He enjoyed cooking meals with his parents, and he passed on the love of cooking together into his relationships with his own daughters. As kids, Kai Man and his brothers spent time playing tennis, going bowling, and he and Kai Leung were even on the chess team together in high school. When they became adults and had families of their own, all three brothers stayed in the Chicagoland area. The Lius always got together to celebrate birthdays and holidays throughout the year, and Kai Man treasured the way the family would see each other so often.

Kai Man met Ruby while they were both working at Best Kosher, and they kept their relationship a secret from their coworkers until their engagement. They were married in July of 1993, and they lived in Addison before settling into their home in Bartlett for 30 years. They adopted two daughters, Beka in 2001 and Kyla in 2004. Kai Man and Ruby enjoyed their time together watching K-dramas, being regulars at their local pho restaurant, and going out shopping together. Kai Man was always supportive and encouraging of Beka and Kyla, and he was so proud of all their accomplishments. He was a family man. There were many times when Beka and Kyla would be home to visit, and the four of them would sit around in the living room, just talking and laughing together. These memories will be cherished forever.

Kai Man was a wonderful loving husband, father, uncle, brother, son, colleagues and friend. He was friendly to all and put others’ needs above his own. Kai Man was a dedicated person who gave his all in everything he did, whether it was working at Eli’s Cheesecake for the past 28 years, volunteering at Bloomingdale Church, or helping his family. He was loyal to his sports teams, no matter how badly the White Sox were doing. He was incredibly patient and kind to everyone he encountered. He found joy in small things like trinkets, sweet treats, dad jokes, cooking and eating good food, going out with friends and spending time with loved ones. Through it all, Kai Man lived an abundant, happy and fulfilled life overflowing with laughter and smiles, and he was loved by many. He will be missed.
