On April 26th, 2022, Julie Haeussler passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family after losing her courageous 14-year battle with cancer. Julie is survived by her loving husband of nearly 39 years, Mark, sons Matthew and Nathan, daughters Amy and Allison, daughter-in-law Angelina, daughter-in-law-to-be Ruth, granddaughters Brooke and Kelsey, sister Deborah Witt and brother David Schreiber. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Rose Marie Schreiber.
Julie was born on September 10, 1955 in LaPorte, IN, where she grew up with her mom, dad, sister, brother, and countless family pets. She was a proud graduate of Purdue University, Boiler Up! Over the years, she also lived in Michigan, Colorado, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maryland, before coming to Illinois over 30 years ago.
Julie was passionate about so many things, starting with her family and including teaching, nature, animals, Disney and, of course, Purdue. She worked 13 seasons in what became her second home, Yellowstone National Park, and cherished every moment of her time there. Julie never let cancer slow her down. She learned to SCUBA dive, went on multiple African safaris, swam with sharks, cruised the Hawaiian islands, SCUBA dived the Great Barrier Reef and even got a tattoo. Above all else, Julie was a thoughtful, caring and amazing mom, grandma and wife. She always put her family's needs first, never hesitating to drop everything and be there for her friends and loved ones. She is very loved and will be deeply missed.
