Mrs. Juliana Nana Nyarkoa Walker Sam
, the daughter of the late Nana Okanta Obrantiri II and the late Mrs. Beatrice Quashie Walker.
Juliana Sam (nee Walker), 65, and affectionately called Auntie Julie by many, was called to glory on Sunday, July 9, 2023 in Streamwood, Illinois, USA. Her early and formative years were spent at Koforidua and Larteh, Ghana. She was educated at Okuapeman Secondary School, Akropong, and the Kumasi Polytechnic, where she received her formal training in food service and catering.
She was an avid cook and culinary enthusiast, touched the lives of many with her delicious creations and warm hospitality. Her culinary talents were so exceptional that she served as a culinary officer for the first ever Vice President of Ghana, (Dr. JWS de Graft-Johnson/The Limann Administration), leaving an indelible mark on the taste buds of dignitaries and guests alike.
Her culinary prowess was surpassed only by her ability to bring people together over a shared meal, fostering lasting connections and cherished memories. Juliana's true joy came from opening her home to everyone, where she lovingly played the role of a "mom" to many. She created an intimate sense of community within her home.
Juliana's heart found solace in the soulful melodies of gospel, Ghanaian highlife, Whitney Houston, and Celine Dion. Her love for music was reflected in her infectious enthusiasm for dancing and singing.
While Juliana's journey with technology might have been slow, once she embraced the world of smartphones, she became a meme and emoji expert. Her infectious laughter brightened countless conversations, always making sure to stay in contact via phone as her life took her to many locales.
Her impeccable sense of style and elegance made her stand out wherever she went. Juliana's attention to detail extended beyond her attire; she always carried a little book to record facts and important details about her loved ones, a testament to her nature.
As we bid farewell to our dear friend, sister, and motherly figure, let us remember her for the love she shared.
