A memorial mass for Joyce V. Paul-Weltzien nee Mares will be held at 11:00a.m. Saturday at St. Matthew Church 1001 E. Schaumburg Rd. Schaumburg.. Cremation was private at the Countryside Crematory.
Born April 28, 1936 in Chicago, Joyce died September 19, 2009 in Schaumburg.
Starting her career as a bus driver for District 54, after 10 years she started the bus service for Schaumburg Township and later joined the Schaumburg Park District as Director of Senior Citzens Group known as S&H Golden Group, where she coordinated many trips daily and abroad for the 35 years and was also known to have a good joke to tell. Among her many involvements, she was a member of the Golden Circle, through Alexian Brothers, Mayor’s Committee on Aging, Women’s Auxillary of the American Legion Post 673 in Huntley, and was involved in the Sister City program in Schaumburg. She also initiated and enjoyed playing on the golf and bowling leagues as well as bingo through the Park District of Schaumburg Township, and was a member of Caleb’s Kin at Bethel Baptist Church.
She is the beloved mother of Keith Paul, Jr. (fiancée Cathy Lampl) of Burbank, CA, Kim (Paul) Eikre of Huntley, Kristen and Kelly Paul of Schaumburg; Proud grandmother of Steven and Keith Eikre, Brooks and Connor Paul and Steve Dinwiddie; dear sister of Charles (Donna) Mares, Jr of New Braunfels, TX; sister-in-law of Carol Mares; she will be missed by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Mildred Mares and her brother Jack.
