Joyce D. Mikasen, age 88, of Bartlett passed away peacefully on August 20, 2024. She was born in Glasgow, Scotland and spent most of her early years in that beautiful place. However, she was eventually bitten by the travel bug and moved to Germany to work for Motorola. It was there that she met the love of her life, George. Their bond was immediate and unbreakable. After a wonderful courtship (and receiving the blessing of Joyce’s father) they married and moved to the United States where they both continued their careers at Motorola. They were inseparable throughout their entire 50 years of marriage. They loved to travel and were even known to stop by a casino a time or two. Joyce had many interests outside of Motorola but none more important than her “pups”. Cocoa was the first to steal her heart and for many years brought joy and love to both her and George. Later on, Joyce became quite adept at spoiling Benjamin, Chloe and Oliver. When she would “babysit” the pups it was a challenge to convince them to come home again. She brought as much joy to their lives as they did to hers. Joyce had a wide network of friends in both Chicagoland and Europe and was beloved by everyone who had the privilege to know her. She will truly be missed. She was preceded in death by her husband George and her parents David and Margaret (nee Gardiner) Broadfoot. She is survived by many nieces and nephews all of whom have felt sadness in her passing but great joy in the knowledge that she is reunited with George in God’s Kingdom. Visitation 9:30am until time of service 10:30am on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at the Sacred Heart Chapel at The Oaks 827 Carillon Dr, Bartlett. Interment Friday 10:30am at Memory Gardens in Arlington Heights. Arrangements by Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, Bartlett.
