Joseph H. Tremmel, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, "Pop", and Vietnam veteran, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on September 7, 1945, Joe lived a life full of service and love of family, faith and country.

Joe grew up in Philadelphia and was a graduate of Father Judge High School. He then started working at a bank in Philly where he met the love of his life, Mary Grace. He was then drafted to the US Army, completed his basic training at Fort Jackson then was stationed in Vietnam where he served as an MP. After his service he started working for TTX Company where he served in various positions during his 40 year career. In 1971, TTX changed locations to Chicago where this new family made the journey to Illinois. After first living in Streamwood the family then moved to Bartlett.

Joe made Bartlett, Illinois, his home for 50 years, where he was a devoted parishioner of St. Peter Damian. His strong faith guided him throughout his life. Joe was a cherished member of the community, enjoyed serving as an umpire for the Bartlett Little League for two decades while sharing his love of sports with younger generations. An avid golfer, Joe found joy on the green, as well as in the many family gatherings where he would indulge in a couple of Manhattans.

Family meant everything to Joe. He is survived by his adoring wife of 58 years, Mary Grace Tremmel (nee Sawicki), and their four children: Jennifer (Larry) Bury, Joseph Tremmel Jr., Steven (Patricia) Tremmel, and Philip (Bethany) Tremmel. As a Grandpa, Joe was immensely proud of his grandchildren, Rebekkah (Matthew) Carney, Amber (Nathan) Dahlberg, Hannah Bury, Sjeldon Tremmel, Lila Bury, Paige Tremmel, Skylar Tremmel, and Gabriella Tremmel, and POP to his great-grandchildren, Everett and Ryann Carney, and Vera and Cole Dahlberg.

He was predeceased by his son, Gabriel Tremmel, his parents, Joseph and Gertrude Tremmel, and his siblings, Gertrude Tremmel-Clemons and Paul Tremmel.

Joe led a life of inspiring simplicity, integrity, and warmth, leaving a legacy of love and humility. His contributions to family, friends, and the community will be forever cherished.
