Memorial services for Joseph H. Pittenger of Glen Ellyn, IL formerly of Lancaster, PA and Ft. Myers, FL will be held at a later date in Pennsylvannia.
  
  Born Oct. 24, 1916 in Pittsburgh, PA, Joseph died January 25, 2012.
  
  He retired as an executive of Armstrong Cork Company after more than 40 years service. He was a pioneer in transferring manual administrative functions to the newly developed computer equipment.
  
  A graduate of Lehigh University, he served in the Air Force during WWII attaining the rank of Lt. Colonel. He was active in many professional and community organizations as follows: President of the Lancaster Chapter, National Association of Accountants, President of the Central Pennsylvannia Chapter, Association for Systems Management, President of Lancaster Optimist Club, Grand Tall Cedar of the Lancaster Chapter of Tall Cedar of Lebanon, President of the Lancaster Chapter of National Sojourners, President of the Lehigh University Alumnai Club and a member of various Masonic organizations. He remained in the Air Force Reserve and retired after more than 38 years of service.
  
  He was married for 56 years to Dolores Schwartz Pittenger, who died in 1994.
  
  He is survived by his son Joseph (Ellen) of Wheaton, IL, granddaughters Ann (Joseph) Dougherty and Sarah. Preceded in death by his brothers John (the late Marie) and Frank (the late Sue).
