Ed Farrier, 88, of Elgin, passed into eternal life on November 14, 2024, with his loving wife Madonna (Osburn) by his side. He was born to George and Evelyn (Hawkins) Farrier on July 7, 1936, in Kemp, IL.
Ed grew up in the small town of Hindsboro, IL, where he developed a deep love for animals, including his beloved dog Skipper, and other unique pets like foxes and alligators. He graduated from Oakland, IL High School in 1954.
Ed and Madonna met in high school and were married on August 18, 1955. They welcomed their daughter Kathy into the world on December 8, 1957. Ed worked at National Distillers in Tuscola before transitioning to crop spraying. Later in life, he enjoyed hands-on work, including roofing and carpentry.
He was affectionately known to his family and grandchildren as “Po.” Being a grandfather was Ed’s favorite role. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sports games and would often create handmade gifts, such as rocking chairs and a dollhouse, for them.
