Joseph "Bill" Cortese

March 15, 1938 — January 25, 2025

Joseph William Cortese “Bill” passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, January 25, 2025.

He is the beloved and devoted husband for 68 years to Sandra, his “Baber” and father to Christi and Dana, David, Paul and Michael. Bill has been a cherished and playful grandpa to Melissa, Cassandra, Will, David, Alex, Cosimo and Riley and great-grandchildren Elizabeth (Ellie), Everly and Lincoln, and a dear brother to Steven and his wife Heidi, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his sons, David, Paul and Michael, Sisters Pat, Joanne and Sandy and brother John, and Parents Joseph and Mona.

Born March 15, 1938 and raised in Hales Corner, Wisconsin, Bill met Sandy and was smitten at first sight, they married on February 16, 1957 and started their family.

Bill work at Nordberg in Milwaukee and move to Streamwood Illinois in 1964 and then he worked for Chicago Pump until he started his own business “F&F Installations” specializing in construction, building and remodeling. Bills brilliance gave him many opportunities that built his business at which point he became a project manager for Triad Construction Services, he will say “they made me an offer I couldn’t refuse”.

Bill retired in 2005, (but he never stopped working!) He would always help anyone that asked. Bill continued to make his home a dream, constructing and designing a home fashioned with touches of Frank Loyd Wright.  His Happy place was always in the garage where he had all his tools, gadgets, inventions, he didn’t discard anything, ask Sandy!  If you had a question about anything that came to building – you had to ask Bill, he was a genius and could rattle off a measurement in seconds. He loved sitting poolside on his deck, with his Baber enjoying a glass of wine and dozing.

Bill will be missed by many, many people, he lived a beautiful life surrounded by love.
