Joe was a man known for his steadfast faith and servants heart. An Elder and active member of the Bartlett United Pentecostal Church in Bartlett, Illinois – where he could often be found for a myriad of reasons. He was either attending service, visiting with friends, praying or simply looking for any opportunity to use his knowledge and talents to repair or improve the building.
He was a master carpenter and could fix just about anything – and what he didn’t know, he looked up and learned. He used those talents, not just to beautifully renovate his own home but to aid others in home repairs to alleviate the financial burden.
A proud Veteran – he served for the United States Army in the Vietnam War and was an active member of the local VFW 5151 in Streamwood – volunteering his time there most Sunday afternoons. Most recently, he was able to take the Honor Flight, something he’d been looking forward to doing for quite some time.
He was a man known for his honesty, integrity and impeccable character. He was the person who always sought out opportunities to bless others and did so discreetly because he never desired accolades or attention but just knew how it felt to struggle. That’s exactly how the days leading up to his hospitalization were spent – visiting an elderly neighbor and bringing groceries to a family in need.
In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling with his wife Maria and spending quality time surrounded by family and friends. He loved a good meal, rich desserts and the Ohio State Buckeyes!
He was the pillar of his family and he will be sorely missed. In lieu of flowers donations to one of three charities which were closest to Joseph's heart would be appreciated, VFW Post 5151, National Federation for the Blind or St Jude Children's Research Hospital. For information (630) 289-7575.
