Jose W. Vargas, 96, of Elgin, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2025. Jose was an avid soccer fan, Chicago Bears fan, and Chicago Bulls fan who cherished the memory of meeting Michael Jordan. Beloved husband of the late Marcia (nee Vela); loving father of Patricia (Jorge) Poveda, Maria (the late Karl) Vargas-Houser, Susan (Gerard) Vargas-Sauceda, Marcia (Alberto) Vargas-Quesada, Mauricio (Claudia) Vargas, and Joey Vargas; cherished grandfather of Jorge (Kirsten) Poveda, Marcia (Antonio) Torres, Brittney (Morgan) Tucker, Sophia Quesada, and Daniel Quesada; proud great grandfather of Isla, Ava, Teo, Amaya, Jackson, and Grayson; dear brother of the late Dr. Wilson (Matilde) Vargas and the late Cumanda (the late Leonardo, DDS) Peña; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Memorial Mass Satuday, May 31, 2025 at 11:00am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church 215 Thomas More Dr., Elgin, IL.
