Jose L. Barrera, 72, of West Chicago, passed away Friday, March 6. Jose was a loving husband, father, and grandfather whose world revolved around his family. He enjoyed new adventures with his children and grandchildren. Jose was a very warm hearted soul that made sure everyone had a smile on their face through the good and bad. His life was filled with love from family and friends, and the memories he made were kept close to his heart. Jose was optimistic and never let the negatives affect his plans for the future. With great accomplishments and recognitions, Jose dedicated his time to his company, Barrera Construction, Inc., which he built from the ground up for 35 years while he wasn’t with his family. Beloved husband of Anna(nee Rubino) for 51 years; loving father of Miriam(Kevin) Barrera-Baker, and Joseph, Sarah, and Steven Barrera; proud grandfather of Armando and Natalia Martin, and Alexander, Jaden, and Amber Baker, and Jacob and Claudia Barrera; fond brother of Victor, Maria Rosario, Fernando, and the late Eddie Barrera.
