Jon F. Peterson, 86, a resident of Bartlett Illinois for 27 years, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2024. He was an honorably discharged army veteran and proud to serve his country. Born April 11, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York, to Arthur and Ruth (nee Lindblom) Peterson. Jon lived in a few different places but ultimately found his way to Chicago and then to Cicero Illinois where he met his wife and started a family. Jon and Ivana were married for nearly 56 incredible years.
He was the beloved husband of his late wife Ivana (nee Poterek); adored father of Nikki (Bob) Bilek; cherished father-in-law of Farhan (Sifana) Alvi; loved/cool grandpa of the late Shana Alvi; treasured brother of the late Arthur “Pete” Peterson and wife Gladys; daughter Erica Lazardis; dear brother-in-law of Celeste (Jack) Noel.
A hard worker as a truck dock forklift operator for 30+ years, Jon created a great life for his family filled with love. For everyone that knew him, knew of his selflessness, his laid-back nature, his humor, his generosity, his strength and his love. When Jon laughed, he truly did it with his whole heart.
Jon was a gentle and kind man. An amazing husband, a loving and doting father with a heart of gold and a great friend to all. We will remember him with that wonderful grin on his face, always willing to lend a hand. Jon had 86 beautiful years filled with moments and memories and we are so very grateful and blessed that we were there to be a part of his life until the end. We will always love him and miss him dearly.
Memorial visitation is Friday, June 7th, 2024, from 2:00pm until 7:00pm with prayers to be said at 5:30pm with military honors to follow at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 950 South Bartlett Rd, Bartlett. Cremation was private at the Countryside Crematory.
