John Sanfilippo

John A. SanFilippo Sr. 92, of Elgin, died Friday, February 21, 2020 in Hoffman Estates. Born July 26, 1927 in Chicago. John was a proud Veteran having served during WWII in the Army Air Corps. John was a Brink's Armored Car Driver and also a Parking Control Officer for the Elgin Police Department for over 20 years. He was a member of the Elgin American Legion Post 57. John loved and was loved by all the humans and animals at the sanctuary his daughter Leslie cofounded, Stardust Animal Sanctuary of Richmond, IL. John was the heart, soul, and hope of Stardust. He comforted animals and they, in turn, gave him joy. He will be missed by all. Beloved husband of the late Carol Mae and loving father of Leslie Ann SanFilippo and John A. SanFilippo Jr. Memorial Service is pending at this time. Arrangements and cremation handled by Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, Bartlett.
