John Reszke

John Alex Reszke, 91, of Bartlett died April 9, 2021. John was the beloved husband of Dolores (nee Yoka); loving father of Thomas Reszke, Marie Stohl and Cathy (fiancé Michael Umberger) Stout; proud grandfather of Christina Stohl, David Stohl, Melissa (Ben) Schooler, Elizabeth (Jon) Wojdula, Michelle Stout; dear great grandfather of Mason, Jack and Stella; cherished brother of Fred, Dora, Tanya and Frances; fond father-in-law of Donald Stout and Douglas Stohl. He also had many loving nieces and nephews.

John was an avid reader. His hobbies included stamp collecting, string and wire art, and crossword puzzles. He liked playing cards, including bridge and poker. John also enjoyed being a jokester. He loved traveling, having been to 49 states and many countries. Having met his sweet heart in college, John sent Dolores 140 letters before they married. He was a real estate executive for Montgomery Ward.

His Catholic faith was very important to him. He was active in the Knights of Columbus. He was also a lector, and in the church choir. He was a proud veteran of the US Navy, serving aboard the USS Leyte Gulf. He loved old movies and easy listening music.

He lived a long, fulfilling life and will be missed by many.
