John Michael Quirk of Bloomingdale, IL died peacefully in his sleep on December 27th in Fort Myers, Florida. He was born on Tuesday, July 23rd 1935 in Chicago, IL to Rose and Guy Quirk . The youngest of six, he grew up with 5 sisters. On March 27, 1954 he met the love of his life June Fogarty. The two fell in love and were married on June 1st 1957 at St. Edmund’s in Oak Park, IL. John was a member of Local 34 IBEW with a long career at Illinois Bell starting when he was just 18 and also worked for several years at Jewel Food Stores. He was able to enjoy a long retirement with June by his side. They spent many years in Ft. Myers Florida escaping the brutal Illinois winters. John loved to paint and enjoyed listening to music, wearing silly hats to entertain the kids and was the life of the party. He had many friends that remained in his life since childhood.
He is survived by his beautiful wife June and his five children John (Rebecca), Mary (Dennis) McGuire, Thomas (Julie), Amy (late Mark) Kiley, and James (Ellen). He and June have 16 grandchildren and one great grandson as of May 2024. He is a beloved uncle to many, and a dear friend who will be missed by all who knew him. His legacy will live on through his family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Countryside Funeral Home, 333 S. Roselle Rd. Roselle, IL 60172. A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 10:00 am at St. Walter Catholic Church, 130 W. Pine Ave. Roselle, IL 60172.
