John Michael Pezen, 91 of Elgin, IL died on August 1, 2020 at Citadel Care Center of Elgin, IL.
He was the son of the late, John Joseph and Helen (Kawlinowski) Pezen. He was preceded in death by his sister Maryann A. Eaton (Pezen) in 2002. He is survived by his wife of 64yrs Joanne M. Pezen (Orzeck) and many nieces and nephews.
John served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was stationed in Japan as a Private First-Class Ammunition technician. He earned the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. John was also a member of the Chicago Carpenters Union for more than 60 yrs.
After returning home from the service in 1953, he met Joanne at the stable where they boarded their horses. They were married in 1955.
They shared the love of travel; from taking cruises, to flying to Switzerland and Germany, to bus trips to Branson, Gatlinburg, Wisconsin Dells, and to many casinos.
A celebration of John’s life will be scheduled at a later date.
