John S. Loomis Jr, 77, of Bartlett, died Friday, April 29, 2010 at Sunrise Assisted Living of Schaumburg after a long battle with cancer.
Born October 27, 1932 in Dallas, TX. He married Charlotte (née Williams) in 1969. A veteran of the U.S. Navy having served as a Lieutenant Commander during the Vietnam War. John held multiple degrees including a Bachelor’s in Mathematics, Civil, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science and a Masters in Nuclear Engineering. John worked as a nuclear engineer for Sargeant and Lundy Engineers, Inc. for 27 years and as an environmental engineer for the Department of Energy for 10 years before retiring in 2006.
Survivors include wife charlotte; daughter Tricia; and cousins Mary Louisa, Oliver, Bryan and Fallon.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Kathryn
Funeral services will be private for the family. Arrangements were handled by the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, Bartlett.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Vietnam Veterans of America, www.vva.org, would be appreciated.
