John Arnold Gerker, 75, of Schaumburg, Illinois, passed away on October 4, 2026.
John spent his career dedicated to his community as a Parks Supervisor for the Schaumburg Park District. Known for his warmth and generosity, he took great pride in his work and in making his town a better place for everyone. Outside of work, John loved spending time on the green, watching golf, or cheering on Chicago sports teams, but above all else, he was known for his genuine kindness to all and his deep love for his family.
When John married his beloved wife, Patricia, he embraced her family as his own. He stepped into the role of stepfather and grandfather with patience and steady support, leaving behind a warm legacy that will continue to guide his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Clara Gerker.
John is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Gerker; his stepchildren, Stefanie Vogt and Jeff Rynott (Marcia Brenner); his grandchildren, Nick (Anna) Rynott, Cassie (Sam) Allen, Alyssa (Alex) Hoffmann, and Mikayla Vogt; his great-grandchildren, Fitz and Kenna; and his sister, Mary Jackson.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2026, at Countryside Funeral Home (1640 S. Greenmeadows Blvd, Streamwood, IL) from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with a short service beginning at 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Heart Association.
