John Patrick Joseph Gallagher, 64, of Bartlett, IL passed away on January 1, 2023. Beloved husband of Gail for 31 years; loving father of Kayla (Jonathan “Jon” Cruz), Liam, and Lynsie. John was preceded in death by his parents Patrick and Nora Gallagher and his brother Charles.
For all of John’s friends and family, it may come as no surprise that he loved fishing. If he could spend all day, everyday fishing, he would. And we cannot forget his love of music. He could and would sing songs from Eric Clapton, Neil Young, Bob Dylan and much more. We always said he should go on a trivia show, because he would most definitely win. And… Sports… he loved sports but especially Chicago sports. What’s his famous quote? “Every Packer’s loss is like a Bears Win.” With Christmas that just passed we wanted to mention his favorite movie, “It’s a Wonderful Life.” The story of a man whose moral compass led him to change the lives of everyone who knew him for the better. Mirroring the man John was in many ways. We all know how better off we are to have been a part of John’s life. He has touched us all in so many ways. We will always remember the life lessons he has given us. His patience and kindness will follow us to make us better people, as we strive to navigate this world with out him in it.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023, from 4-8 pm at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 950 South Bartlett Rd. Bartlett, IL 60103.
