John D. Colletti, 76, of Chicago Illinois passed away peacefully on August 31, 2024. Born on October 20, 1947, John was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who cherished his family.
Beloved husband of 54 years to Diane Colletti, Together, they raised four wonderful children: Alysen Colletti, John P. (Rebecca) Colletti, Jaclyn (Naim) Dabeca, and Jeanine (Adam) Vena.
John was a proud and devoted grandfather to his beloved grandchildren:, Lindsay, Gianna, Brianna, Kaitlyn, John, Danielle, Hailey, and Alexa. Beloved brother to Virginia (James) Gora. Brother-in-law to Rosemary Colletti.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Dora Colletti and dear brother to Joseph Colletti.
John had a lifelong passion for collecting. He was an enthusiastic collector of coins, stamps, and model cars. Each piece a treasure that reflected his love for history and craftsmanship.
John was a survivor of the Our Lady of Angels school fire. He was a veteran and an avid fan of General George A. Custer. He spent countless hours studying and discussing American Western history, his enthusiasm for these topics inspired those around him. He also had a deep appreciation for classic cars, a passion that he shared with friends and family alike.
John’s love for his family was evident in all he did, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 16th, at Countryside Funeral Home from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, where family and friends are invited to celebrate John’s life and legacy. Prayer service at 6:00 PM.
