John Arnold, 75, of Schaumburg, devoted husband for 53+ years of Janet, nee Bartunek; dear dad of Mike (Megan) and Michelle (Rick) Kozmer; proud Papa of Samantha, Kyle, Danielle and Kaitlyn; fond brother of Robert (Nina) and the late George (late Joanne); loving uncle of many; caring son of the late Robert and Josephine and a wonderful friend to countless people whose paths were fortunate enough to have crossed. John also had a soft spot for family pets, especially Oreo, Bismarck and his traveling companion the late Autumn. John was a special human being. He always found the positive in life. He was quick with a joke, had a great sense of humor and was a genuinely good person. He never met a stranger. His outgoing personality drew people to him. He spent the first 29 years of his working career at Zenith, after coming home from the war.. He followed that up with a move to the suburbs and a 10 year stint in the finance department with The DuPage County Forest Preserve, which he enjoyed tremendously. John's love of the outdoors took him on numerous trips in his RV across the country, always finding time to stop at a national park. A favorite spot to fish, swim, camp relax and see old friends was at Lake Braidwood Recreation Club. When traveling began became too difficult, John enjoyed playing pinnacle, having a taste of Scotch, cheering on the Cubs and finding the humor in shows like the Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men (Janet did not share his enthusiasm for those shows). John was loved by all and will be missed by many.
